Choosing which applications to run with the laptop's dedicated GPU
By default, Regata OS runs some applications with the laptop's dGPU (discrete GPU) instead of the iGPU (the integrated graphics of the Intel or AMD processor) for a better experience. However, the user can choose which of these applications should run with the laptop's dGPU, something that is done using the Max-Q application.
The first screen of the utility, called "Applications", is where you choose which applications to run with the dGPU. Click "Switches" to toggle between "High Performance" and "Power Saving".
In the "Settings" section, you can access the screen settings, the NVIDIA driver settings panel if installed, an option to enable AMD FreeSync technology when supported, and run simple tests with the dGPU.
In the "System" section, you will find information about your hardware configuration, which includes processor model, amount of RAM and VRAM memory, dGPU model, installed video driver versions and details about the integrated graphics.
Running applications with the dGPU from the desktop
Not all applications are available in Max-Q, however, it is also possible to run applications that have not yet been included in the supported list with the laptop's dGPU. To do this, just right-click on the application shortcut on the desktop and go to Actions ➞ Run with dedicated GPU.
